Good Luck to President Goodluck Jonathan

Mr. President, as an admirer of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo that you are, I want to remind you of what the late sage said of the presidency during the time of President Shehu Shagari. 'It is not becoming the President of a country that matters most, but the use made of it'. Mr. President, you have our mandate, because Nigerian people voted for you overwhelmingly in the just concluded election. Now that you are in charge, make good use of the opportunity and do not wait for a second chance. First, be wary of the counsel of those closest to you, because often times they tell you what you want to hear. Second, remember that a normal academic year runs from September to May or June of the following year. Please do not forget that Mr. President.  Finally, remember that private investment contributes immensely to the growth of an economy. Thus, security and sustainable infrastructural facilities must be a priority. Mr. President, what we want from you now is to start the process of redevelopment of our infrastructures and the ever ready, patriotic, dedicated, industrious, and entrepreneurial Nigerians will follow you without hesitation. Hey, have fun, go ahead and kick some ... if the need is, because there won’t be another chance. Good luck.

PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST

It takes leadership as well as greatness to compromise and make peace with your enemy. The late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and the late Israeli Prime Minister, Menachem Begin sign on to the 1978 Camp David Accord under President Jimmy Carter because they were willing to jettison the concept of military superiority for sustainable economic development that peaceful co-existence engenders.
Let the truth be told, you cannot vanquish the State of Israel from the face of the earth- it won’t happen. On the other hand, there is not going to be peace in Israel without peace in the occupied territory. Therefore, Israel must be willing to trade land for peace and pull out of the occupied Palestinian territory unconditionally. Finally, Hamas, as well as the Palestinian Authority, should, without delay, recognize the right of Israel to exist side by side with an independent Palestine.

Guys, let’s give peace a chance. Time is of the essence. The children of Israel and the Palestinian children want to leave in peace. Politicians are the problem.
