IT IS NOT THE DUTY OF THE POLICE FORCE TO GO TO COMBAT ZONE.

The deployment of Policemen in readiness for a Combat Mission in the North-Eastern region of Nigeria is an admission of failure on the part of President Buhari's Service Chiefs and leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces in its war against Boko Haram.

The issue now is not the veracity of the news of the disappearance (absconding) of some Policemen from training camp in other to evade deployment to combat zones against the Boko Haram sect, but the reasonableness of the decision.

Deploying Police Personnel on a Combat Mission is another way of saying that the members of the Nigerian Armed Forces have abdicated on their constitutionally defined role of fighting to protect the sovereign status of this great nation.

Policemen are for Peace Keeping Operation and Maintaining Order, not Combat Engagement. Militarily, this decision is flawed in its entirety. Strategically, it is ill-informed. You are sending Policemen to the heat of the battle that the militarily trained and armed personnel are running away from. It is a national embarrassment.

The entire leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces MUST go. It sounds so ludicrous hearing the President sounding a note of warning to the killers or bandits terrorizing and enslaving the people of Zamfara State that this is their last warning. Warning about what? The state has been under siege in the last six months, your citizens are being killed and taxed illegally by unknown elements, and you're just waking up to your responsibility as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. This is the disconnect that is undoing your Presidency. Please, be proactive for a second, Mr. President. Rein in on your Service Chiefs; the Police Force is not a regular army suitable for a combat zone engagement.
