You ignore him, you do so at your own peril. In spite of everything, he remains the voice of reason in the administration. The more they isolate him, the more they expose the President to embarrassing situations. And the more they reveal the emptiness at the seat of power.
It's no longer debatable; the President doesn't have it. The Minister of Health is morbidly lukewarm and seemingly anti-social. The Minister of Information is a casualty of denial and has problems making distinctions between reality, truth, and propaganda.
Nigerians need a leader right now - intellectually savvy, able to dissect and explain in straight English all the Medical nuances associated with the Corona Virus. And at the same time, be able to explain to Nigerians the state of our readiness to smoke out the pandemic from our shore. Someone constructive and able to articulate the challenges that we face. And above all, to inspire hopes in us and faith in the leadership. And that someone right now is Vice President Osinbajo.
So far, it's been an appalling show of shame at the Presidency. Abba Kyari (I wish him quick recovery) is down and temporarily ousted. The President has been tested to lead, and he wasn't ready.
Leadership is more than holding meetings. Strategies and tactics are more than holding meetings. Of what use is stylistically populating social media with pictures of meetings in session, when you cannot stand up before Nigerians to explain to them your findings and the critical decisions taken at those meetings? Na photo we wan chop? It is about moving forward.
Aso Rock is a symbol of our sovereignty; it cannot be on exile or left dormant at this uncertain time. That is why we have a Vice President. It's time for Professor Osinbajo to step up and be the Vice President in the spirit and substance of his constitutional responsibilities. All of you cannot afford to be part of the wasted generations. Be firm of purpose, Mr. Don't waver.
