Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama and the Gifts of Old Boys' Network.

After a well-crafted eulogy in the memory of his late friend and the best man at his wedding ceremony, Nigerians are beginning to gain more insights into why Ambassador Onyeama is still on the job as Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, despite his lackadaisical instincts in the face of clear and present diplomatic dangers.
He was a no show when South African mobs descended on Nigerians, specifically, his Ndigbo brothers, following the outbreaks of Xenophobia; hacking them to death and destroying their businesses.
Adding to that, he was no show when CNN began to beam unsightly videos and pictures of Nigerians tied to stakes, with their heads down like animals, and being auctioned for slavery.
And just recently, he was a no show when Nigerians and citizens of some other African countries were forcibly ejected from their hotels and lawfully rented apartments in some cities in China.
Now, back to the South African Xenophobia bloodshed. When the bloodbath and mayhem were unfolding, Foreign Minister Onyeama feign ignorance of the traumatizing development. He was unconcerned and refused to rise to the occasion and put his Geneva credentials into work. He just didn't care.

It didn't cross his mind that he has to summon the Ambassador of South Africa to his office or ask him to leave Nigeria immediately, given the egregious scale of the killings of his own people and the indiscriminate destruction of Nigerian properties unfolding in South Africa.

He waited and dilly-dally too long, doing nothing, acknowledging nothing, and waiting for the mayhem to abate on its own. He did not summon the South African Ambassador to his office, until pressure mounted from commentators in social media for him to do so. The attacks on some of the South African interests in Nigeria by Nigerian youths were of tremendous push.
This man exemplifies the disconnect undermining Nigerian greatness. He is Ivy League-educated, in the US and in similar colleges in the UK. Expectedly, he knows the laws and he is conversant with the diplomatic procedures when his citizens are confronted with man-made perils in foreign countries. But he just didn't care and didn't act.
Nigerians facing televised execution in South Africa did not merit his attention.
Those contending dangerously with captivity in Libya and being sold out as slaves to the highest bidder did not worth his while.
And the sights and sounds of Africans sleeping on the streets in China did not merit an expedited and decisive response from his office, because, in his disconnected state of mind, the affected Blacks were constituting a menace to the Chinese pristine ways of living. Really?
Yes, indeed, "na their toro be that." After all, his appointment is secured.
These are not just allegations; they are facts known to the Presidency and known to Nigerians at home and abroad.
Mr. Onyeama is morbidly unremorseful, cold, detached, and lukewarm. A quintessential Ndigbo aristocrat - unquestioned caste system apologist.
Show me your friends and I will tell you who you really are. Foreign Minister Onyeam is a replica of Abba Kyari and that is why he is still on the job. He has been grossly lackadaisical, knowing full well that his main man is the defacto President. Thus, making him untouchable. What a callous and lackluster character!
