The pronouncements and attitude of Spokespersons are most often a reflection of the philosophy or ideological bent of the leadership. This man lied; the blood of every Nigerian killed in South Africa, in Libya and all over Nigeria are on his head and on the heads of the leadership clique that creates visibility for such myopic lots.
Killing and reprisal killing are no longer newsworthy in Nigeria. And the leadership is helpless, fully compromised in its definition of insurgency and terrorism. And fully compromised in its strategy and tactics.
Yet, the entire leadership is on the alert, not on how to surmount the bloodshed enveloping the land, but on how to hijack Aso Rock in 2019.
It's no longer about APC or PDP, and it has never been. They don't have it. Their anointed few don't have it, either. And Obasanjo is not the answer. It takes enlightenment to know the enlightened. And it took Baba eighteen years to discover Donald Duke, that indeed he is a worthy ally for a coalition talk. He has little or no understanding of purposeful leadership or accountability.
He is a voice, powerful voice, no doubt. But like most of his retired colleagues, he is an opportunist, a creation of guns and the uniforms. His understanding of governance (administrative acumen) and succession planning are, to say the least, ad-hoc and haphazard.
It is not the end of the road, though. The solution is in our own hands - sack the entire present political class by any means necessary. Our writings, our pronouncements, our messages should be revolutionary and Arab Spring focused. Period. We have to be our own superheroes.
Finally, if indeed Nigeria is one country, the usual talk of "it's my turn or the turn of my tribe or region to produce the next President" should be taken out of our electoral vocabulary. Let's the 2019 Presidential election be the defining moment of our oneness as a real country.
