The 2019 Presidential election has come and gone. The President who I supported did not win, and it is time to move on.
In the words of President Woodrow Wilson, "Liberty has never come from Government [it is inherent]. Liberty has always come from the subjects of it [the people]. The history of liberty is a history of limitations of governmental power [rule of laws and checks and balances], not the increase of it [dictatorship]."
Democracy is about liberty and the expression of our values, through the choices we made. The fundamental issues and rights that underlie those choices, are vested. They are inherent rights - something you are born with.
My involvement in the just concluded Presidential election was not partisan-influenced or what I stand to gain, but simply ideological and issue-driven. And it was made in good faith, consistent with my convictions and in the best interest of the people.
As I close this chapter, I remain unwavering in my Progressive leaning, optimistic that, in spite of all the odds, the pains, the waves of anger and hopelessness enveloping the land, better days are ahead of us. May God continue to bless the good people of Nigeria.
